Boredom goodbye with vacation games and camps – family card, subsidies, and summer kindergarten bring relief

There's a lot going on during the holidays – thanks to the Klosterneuburg Holiday Care program, this summer is no exception. Despite Corona measures, the City Council's Youth Welfare Office and School Department have put together a considerable program. Funding makes participation easier, and the family card offers free swimming fun. The summer kindergarten also provides continuous care.

Parents in Klosterneuburg can breathe a sigh of relief: Despite the difficult circumstances due to Covid-19, the municipality can announce a vacation program that is as rich as it is versatile. Family Councillor DI Dr. Maria-Theresia Eder is looking forward to a wide range of offerings for vacations at home: „Families should be able to enjoy the summer in Klosterneuburg in a relaxed way. Many vacations have already been taken, so parents will be supported with continuous care in the summer kindergarten or after-school care. The vacation play program or the Klosterneuburg family card with free admission – accompanied by an adult – to the Strandbad and Happyland will ensure that the summer leisure and swimming offer can be fully utilized.“

Mag. Franz Brenner, head of the Youth Department, is also pleased: „Despite Corona, there will be a summer this year too! And of course, there's no summer without the holiday games. That's why we're offering a special edition with scavenger hunts for every week of the holidays. It will be exciting, educational, and tricky for all participants. At the same time, you might get to know Klosterneuburg from different angles and win lots of great prizes – so it's worth participating!“

Summer vacation games

This special year, the 34th Summer Holiday Games for all children and young people will be transformed into a puzzle rally through Klosterneuburg – with different themes in collaboration with various institutions. Each holiday week, from Monday to Thursday, there will be different tasks to solve. The solutions can be submitted to the Youth Department. Winners will be chosen weekly from all submissions and can win great prizes for different age groups. The following themed rallies are on the program: History theme Stiftsplatz, Rathausplatz, Klosterneuburg Museums, History theme Untere Stadt, Wine or Aulandschaft. The holiday games puzzle tasks will be published every Monday of the current week on the jCard website www.jcard.at, or can be picked up directly at the Youth Department, Rathausplatz 25. Solutions should be sent via email to jugendreferat@klosterneuburg.at or submitted at the Youth Department.

Klosterneuburg Family Card

With the Family Card, children get free admission to the Klosterneuburg lido and Happyland – when accompanied by an adult who has paid admission. It can be obtained by proving main residency in Klosterneuburg at the registration office – by appointment only.

Weekly holiday care in schools and from private providers

Holiday camps in schools and private providers guarantee that everyone can spend their ideal holiday in Klosterneuburg with an attractive program, sports weeks, forest holiday weeks, learning weeks, German courses, and much more. Year-round kindergarten with full-day care

This summer, Klosterneuburg will offer continuous childcare services for kindergarten children for the first time. This is intended to ease the situation for parents who have already had to use their vacation time due to the COVID-19 crisis regarding childcare. This year, in addition to the existing holiday care, the Municipality of Klosterneuburg will provide a central kindergarten, namely the one in Langstögergasse, for care during holiday weeks 4 to 6. Registration was possible until mid-June. Depending on income, a subsidy will be granted here through holiday care vouchers and, in special hardship cases, through the city's Corona fund. Together with the six weeks of services offered by the Lower Austrian State Kindergartens (holiday weeks 1 to 3 and 7 to 9), continuous care is thus guaranteed.

Holiday care check

Low-income families can obtain the „Vacation Care Voucher“ from the municipality of Klosterneuburg. This voucher is a subsidy program for families, where depending on the income situation, up to €50 can be granted per week of vacation care per child. With this, the city provides financial relief for families in Klosterneuburg. The process is straightforward and simple through the municipal social welfare office and the youth department. The Vacation Care Voucher can be redeemed at all registered care facilities in the city. The form is available for download at www.klosterneuburg.at by searching for „Ferienbetreuungsscheck“.
