City marketing and Werner Brix are turning the historic trail into a "HistOHRienpfad" (History(Ear) Trail). Klosterneuburg's city history is humorously depicted within it.
In 2009, Klosterneuburg's historical trails were established for the city's residents and visitors. One path leads through the so-called „Lower“ town, and another through the „Upper“ town. In total, 37 information panels at prominent locations in Klosterneuburg offer an incredibly rich source of information about the city's eventful history through photos, graphics, and texts. However, until now, it was often unclear to many viewers that these display panels were conceived as trails and are connected.
Since many Klosterneuburg residents won't be going on long holiday trips this year, this is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the city, either alone or with your family. The Klosterneuburg city marketing team has not only redesigned the routes visually but has also incorporated the internationally proven „Hearonymus“ audio guide system. This guide can be installed as a free app on all common smartphones, tablets, or computers. Anyone, whether on-site or at home, can now listen to the city's history. The focus isn't solely on visitors to the Babenberg city, but also on those who have made Klosterneuburg their new home in recent years.

Those who install the app can immediately embark on an exploration and take a guided tour through the Upper and/or Lower Town. However, those who prefer a more relaxed approach can also find out about Klosterneuburg at any location, as the information panels can also be accessed virtually.
The entertaining and informative, and above all humorous texts are not identical 1:1 with the stories on the panels, but rather provide additional information and anecdotes. These were written by Klosterneuburg cabaret artist Werner Brix and humorously narrated. For the historical accuracy of the content and the provision of the images, Wolfgang Bäck and his team from the City Archive, along with the City Museum team around Veronika Gonaus-Pfaffel, were responsible.
Klosterneuburg wants to bring its city history closer to the many international guests who also come here through IST Austria. Therefore, a recording in English is also planned for further development. Additionally, in the future, there will be a special version for children, which can then also be used in various Klosterneuburg schools in their science classes.
