The tech startup Lignovations GmbH has developed high-performance biomaterials from lignin based on intensive research, which are primarily characterized by their sustainability. Lignovations was founded in 2021 as a spin-off of TU Wien and utilizes the natural properties of lignin for industrial and consumer applications with its multifunctional biomaterials.
For its first commercially available lignin-based ingredient, LignoGuard®, which can be used as a bio-based alternative to problematic UV filters in sunscreens, the company has received numerous awards from the cosmetics industry and has also been honored several times as an innovative and sustainable startup.
