Klosterneuburg Launches Shopping & Bonus Program to Strengthen the Regional Economy

City Marketing and Raiffeisenbank Klosterneuburg present new shopping and voucher solution. The heart of this is the „Klosterneuburg APP“. This allows information to be sent quickly, as well as keeping and increasing value creation in the region. Klosterneuburg residents benefit from many advantages and discounts.

Starting October 1, 2020, shopping in Klosterneuburg will become a new experience. On this date, the extensive „Klosterneuburg Shopping and Bonus Program“ will officially begin its operations. The heart of the program is its own new „Klosterneuburg APP“. With this digital solution, bonus points can be collected with every purchase, vouchers can be bought and given as gifts, and information can be quickly forwarded to users. The app also serves as a powerful information tool for the city and clubs, bringing messages at the touch of a button to where they belong: from sender to recipient. In addition to the app version, there will also be a physical „Klosterneuburg Shopping and Bonus Card“ for customers!

Why now is the right time

The shutdown caused by SARS-CoV-2 has shown how important rapid and targeted information in our immediate living environment is. In recent months, there has also been a stronger solidarity among the population with the local economy. The Klosterneuburg City Marketing department wants to use and positively reinforce this general mood together with Raiffeisenbank. „By implementing the voucher system, we are securing value creation in Klosterneuburg and sustainably strengthening the economy. For us as a regional bank, a strong economic location in Klosterneuburg is important, and we want to contribute to a strong sense of community by financing the basic costs of the app,“ explains Director Thomas Kriz of Raiffeisenbank Klosterneuburg. Raiffeisenbank is supporting City Marketing as the main sponsor for the purchase of the app. In addition, the program is also supported by funds from NAFES (Lower Austrian Working Group for the Promotion of Shopping in City Centers).

What the „Shopping and Bonus Program“ brings to the economy

The digital solution as an app connects businesses and customers, clubs and members, as well as administration and citizens alike. Businesses have the opportunity to send up-to-date information to regular and new customers with a single click to advertise offers, events, shopping tips, or even weekly menus. Furthermore, customers can collect Klosterneuburg bonus points with participating businesses based on their spending. For every euro spent, one Klosterneuburg bonus point is awarded. These points can then be redeemed again as part of the monthly bonus point promotions. These promotions are intended to offer a good mix of special offers in the areas of retail, gastronomy, services, culture, and sports.

„With the app, we're making shopping in Klosterneuburg even more attractive and also promoting the fun factor. An attractive bonus program will offer plenty of local deals that you can't get from the big online stores,“ says City Councilor for Economic Affairs Christoph Kaufmann, who hopes this will lead to more value creation for the local economy. In addition to bonus points, there will also be a real shopping voucher redeemable at participating businesses again (for the first time since the Klosterneuburg shopping coin). This will be linked to the „Klosterneuburg APP,“ but can also be purchased and given as a physical voucher for any amount.

What the new program brings for the city residents

In addition to an attractive bonus program, the new „Klosterneuburg APP“ offers above all one thing: quick information from the city on all important topics. Users of the app will receive essential news from Klosterneuburg (similar to the GEM2GO app), ranging from official information and crisis information to important dates and events. „The past few months of Covid-19 have impressively demonstrated that this is in the interest of the citizens. Every additional communication channel is to be welcomed, as we reach fewer and fewer people through traditional media,“ says Mayor Stefan Schmuckenschlager, who is also convinced of the idea.

Since the blue light organizations are to be brought on board, safety-relevant topics (e.g., in case of accident closures, flood warnings, or general prevention tips) can also be communicated quickly.

What the app brings to Klosterneuburg associations and their members

The framework agreement includes 30 licenses for Klosterneuburg associations, allowing them to digitally manage their member administration and information via the app. This enables targeted internal and external communication. For example, if an association has multiple sections or teams, it can notify them individually or share specific dates. Additionally, a chat function facilitates communication within the association. This feature also convinced Michael Reichenauer-Kofler, chairman of the city marketing association and the host association: „This allows us to specifically send information, for instance, only to our accommodation providers, such as warnings about hotel scammers. But we can also quickly send industry-specific information to our members in a targeted manner!“
