In close proximity to Vienna, Klosterneuburg is a city with an excellent living and recreational standard! As one of the most scenically beautiful and charming municipalities in the Vienna Woods – nestled between the Danube, Kahlenberg, and Leopoldsberg – Klosterneuburg, the third-largest city in Lower Austria, offers more than 150 km of marked hiking trails, as well as numerous mountain bike and trail routes, a beach and a riverside swimming area in the Danube floodplain, the Eichenhain Nature Park, the Happyland Sports and Leisure Center with an adventure indoor pool, sauna, tennis, climbing hall, bowling, basketball, football, and much more.

Cultural city

Follow in the footsteps of great artists and experience the cultural treasures in Klosterneuburg – from Art Brut exhibitions in the Museum or Galerie Gugging, the magnificent Augustinian Canons' Abbey, the Franz Kafka Memorial Room, Austria's second-oldest St. Martin's Church, the Universal Museum Kierling with the world's largest paper-cutting collection, to unique artworks in the Museum Gugging.

On two different routes – the Upper Town and the Lower Town, with a total of 37 stops, you can learn all sorts of interesting facts about Klosterneuburg and experience the city in a completely new and vibrant way.

City of education

When it comes to education, the city offers the prestigious IST Austria university, the Konrad Lorenz Institute, lovingly cared for daycare centers and kindergartens with competent staff, primary schools, new middle schools, as well as a federal and a private high school. As a well-known center for viticulture, the Higher Federal Educational and Research Institute for Viticulture and Fruit Growing and the Federal Office for Viticulture and Fruit Growing play a significant role in Klosterneuburg.

Events

In honor of Saint Leopold, the traditional Leopold Festival is celebrated every year in November, making it one of the largest festivals of its kind in Lower Austria. In the stylish open-air ambiance of the monastery's baroque imperial courtyard, visitors can enjoy the Klosterneuburg Opera in late summer. Over a weekend filled with games, jugglers, and experiences, Klosterneuburg transforms like a journey back in time at the medieval festival. During the warm summer months, excellent films can be admired at the Mythos Film Festival and Shortynale Klosterneuburg.

Mobile City

Due to the good public transport connections, you can reach the city center of Vienna by car in just a few minutes. Traveling by public transport also takes less than half an hour. Park & Ride facilities at Kierling and Weidlinger train stations also ensure a straightforward, environmentally friendly onward journey to nearby towns. Within Klosterneuburg, everything is easily accessible by car, city bus, or bicycle. Parking tickets for short-term parking zones in Klosterneuburg are available at local tobacco shops and shops, the town hall, and our citizen information office.
