Since 2007, the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) has been located in the cadastral municipality of Maria Gugging. It is a research institution in Austria that conducts cutting-edge research modeled after international institutions. Unlike regular universities, it does not offer undergraduate studies, but exclusively Ph.D. programs. With a focus on biosciences, the Konrad Lorenz Institute in Klosterneuburg also receives international recognition and attention. As a well-known center for viticulture, the Higher Federal Education and Research Institute and Federal Office for Viticulture and Pomology plays a significant role in Klosterneuburg. Furthermore, since October 2019, the Austrian Beverage Institute in Klosterneuburg offers unique training to become a brewery and beverage technician.
