„Fantastic places! Walla / Strobl / Vondal / Fink“
Gugging, Klosterneuburg, Vienna, Austria, Greece, Hawaii, and the Land of Eternity.
The exhibition „Fantastic Places!“ brings together works by four Gugging artists who, in their own unique ways, focus on both familiar and unknown places.
In August Walla's diverse artistic oeuvre, one finds real and fictional places, such as the Land of Eternity. His photographs open a view into his living and working environments, which are always simultaneously stages for his artistic productions. In contrast to these
Leopold Strobl's small-format works, whose landscape paintings have a mysterious character, as he erases living beings from the newspaper photographs he uses as templates with a pencil. He cloaks the images in a mysterious blue-green veil. Leonhard Fink's comprehensive pencil-drawn maps show countries, regions, and cities. They impress with detailed information on architecture, infrastructure, and landscape. And Karl Vondal's erotic drawings and collages transport the viewer to his places of dreams and longing. The countless depictions show fantastic and paradisiacal locations with palm trees and white beaches, where Karl Vondal is found with his lover in the midst of it all.
