Gugging Inspired! From Bowie to Roth

The Gugging artists, their art, and their living and working space, the House of Artists, have inspired creators from various genres from the very beginning. Whether in music, visual arts, literature, photography, or fashion design, Gugging has been a magical place for artists since the 1960s. It also served as a source of inspiration for David Bowie, who visited the Gugging artists for his album „1. Outside“ and brought the atmosphere of the visit back to the studio. Austrian writer Gerhard Roth immortalized the Gugging artists in both his literary and photographic works. In addition to Bowie and Roth, the exhibition also features Arnulf Rainer, Peter Pongratz, Johann Rausch, and the photographer Christine de Grancy, who accompanied Bowie to Gugging. Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane is also a focus of the presentation at museum gugging.
