Concerts at the Festival Organ 2025

The festival organ of Johann Freundt (1642) in the Klosterneuburg Abbey Basilica thanks to its excellent sound, as one of the largest and most important monumental organs in Central Europe.
Organ Concerts 2025: European – Innovative! Six guest organists from Toulouse, Basel, Zurich, Lübeck, and last but not least Kobersdorf have accepted the monastery's invitation and will present highlights of European musical history. This year, you can experience in a most impressive way how this history is still being written, even on a historical instrument like the 1642 festival organ. Exciting programs tailored to the church year await you.
Advent Organ Concert
Sunday, December 14, 2025 | 3 PM
At the festival organ: Yasuko & Michel Bouvard (Toulouse)
Works by C. Racquet, T. Tomkins, L. Couperin, et al.
A guided organ tour takes place before the organ concerts at 2 PM each day. The meeting point is in the Collegiate Church.
With Michel and Yasuko Bouvard, a very special musical couple rounds off our organ concert season on the main organ. For decades, Michel was a professor at the Conservatoire national supérieur de Paris, and thus at arguably the most renowned French training institution for young musicians. He is also the titular organist at the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ in St-Sernin in Toulouse, as well as one of the four organists at the Palace Chapel of Versailles. His wife, Yasuko, is as much at home at the organ as she is at the harpsichord and the fortepiano. As a duo, they perform internationally, presenting highlights of works for organ for four hands or four feet. The finest French sounds shortly before Christmas, counteracting the dark and cold season.
