Visit to the tomb of St. Leopold with skull relic

Margrave Leopold III died on November 15, 1136. The skull relic of Saint Leopold is only displayed during the Leopold Festival.

The skull of the saint is encased entirely in red velvet, with only the forehead bone exposed. It rests on a pillow adorned with pearls and precious stones. The relic is crowned with a fabric version of the Austrian archduke's hat. The skull's casing also bears rich jewelery.
