Guided Tour „Living Heritage“

On the Day of Monuments, historic sites open their doors to bring the value of Austria's cultural heritage, as a valuable resource, closer to the general public. In 2023, the Day of Monuments is under the motto „monument [he:she:we] live“.

On this day, Klosterneuburg Abbey is offering a special guided tour:

„Living heritage“

In the year 1133, the founder of the Augustinian Canons Regular monastery, Margrave Leopold III, brought the Order of the Augustinian Canons Regular to Klosterneuburg. Since that time, the canons have lived and worked in this monastery according to the rules of St. Augustine and have kept alive the legacy of St. Leopold to this day. „Living Heritage“ is also the European motto for this year. Thus, members of the convent will talk about their diverse tasks, their mission from the founder, and their life in a place full of history and stories during guided tours on Heritage Day. Two focal points of communal monastic life, the Chapter House and the Sacellum, which are otherwise not accessible as parts of the cloister, can be visited as part of this special tour.
