Markets

In recent years, the municipality of Klosterneuburg has made a significant effort to revitalize these oases, which have enriched our society for generations, and adapt them to the demands of our time.

Weekly market at Stadtplatz

Fresh produce will be available for purchase every Saturday (weekdays) from March to December, between 6:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The market vendors offer a wide range of products: fruit, vegetables, eggs, butter, cheese, honey, pickled vegetables, bread and pastries, sausages, bacon and meat, schnapps and wine, as well as flowers, plants, and arrangements. The offerings are tailored to the season. Most of the products are home-grown and highly appreciated by the many regular customers and visitors. Not only the freshness and quality of the goods offered, but also the special atmosphere of the market are worth a visit.

Farmers Market at Rathausplatz

The farmers' market at Rathausplatz is held year-round every Friday (weekdays) from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The selection ranges from meat and sausage products, eggs, cheese, pumpkin seed oil, and honey to bread, pastries, baked goods, and wine. Twice a year, the market vendors host small festivals with tastings and prize drawings.

Italian Specialty Market at Rathausplatz

Dolce Vita, Italian flair, culinary delights, and typical products from Italy's top regions – that's what the „Mercato Italiano“ is all about. Once or twice a year, traders and producers from Umbria, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia, Puglia, Tuscany, Lombardy, and South Tyrol create a feast for the eyes and palate in front of the town hall.

Spring Fair at Rathausplatz

Lively activity prevails at the new spring market, which takes place on the last Friday of April on the Rathausplatz. The wide range of goods includes clothing, bed and table linen, socks, household goods, dishes, confectionery, baskets, and shoes, as well as food. A Langos stand, among others, caters to culinary delights.

Dishware market at Rathausplatz

Every year, exactly two days after the end of the big Leopoldi Fest, the traditional dish market attracts numerous visitors. The market rights for this fair can be traced back to the year 1453. At that time, an annual fair was held on the Sunday before Martini, which was granted market rights. This annual fair even lasted for 14 days. From the Sunday before Martini, the market „migrated“ to St. Leopold's Day and today marks the conclusion of the celebrations surrounding St. Leopold. Around 70 market vendors set up their stalls across the entire Rathausplatz and offer their goods. The wide range includes clothing, bed and table linens, socks, household items, dishes, baskets, shoes, and food items (confectionery, bacon, and sausage). For refreshments, there is a Langos stand.
