Photo Art in the Wine Library – Michaela Bruckmüller

Since 2014, in the Vinothek of the Klosterneuburg Abbey Twice a year, photo exhibitions are shown, with the themes of food, drink, enjoyment, architecture, and nature forming a thematic focus.

A thematic focus in the works of Michaela Bruckmüller are plants that she embeds in photographic black. This isolates them, allowing the visualization of the smallest details. However, through optical isolation, the objects sometimes lose their original meaning. Since she documents the plants not only in their full bloom and beauty but also in various stages of wilting, this creates visual analogies for life and death, becoming and passing away. The plant images are combined with the early series »Zimmer frei« (Room Available), which explores the peculiar aesthetic of strangers' rooms in cheap guesthouses.
